Backup Quicken to a Flash Drive 1. Insert the flash drive into the computer 2. Wait for the computer to detect the drive (a window displaying the contents of the flash drive may open) – Drive is identified by the letter E: or F: etc. Open Quicken 4. Go to the “file” menu and choose “backup” 5. When you first start Quicken after installation it will prompt you for the location of your Quicken data file or if you want to start as a new user (with a new empty Quicken data file). If the files on the flash drive were created as backup files from a Quicken program (and have a file type of QDF-backup) on another computer, select Restore. Make sure the restored files end up on your hard drive in the Documents Quicken folder. If the files on the flash drive were copied outside of Quicken (and have a file type of QDF), simply use Windows Explorer outside of Quicken and copy them to the Documents Quicken folder on your hard drive. While in File Explorer double click the QDF file you want to open, to start Quicken using that file. I have Quicken Basic 2007 installed on 2 computers and it's been working fine but I was wondering should I consider upgrading to a 2008 or 2009 version or stay with what I have since everything is working fine? Do versions 2008 or 2009 offer more features to make it worth upgrading from my Quicken Basic 2007 or not? I couldn't find a Quicken Basic 2008 or 2009 anywhere on the web, even Quicken's own website, has it been discontinued and replaced by something else? All I use my Quicken Basic 2007 for is to keep track of my few credit card bills, keep up with my checking account and some petty cash expenses. I have no investments to keep track of, no form of a business, or no rental property. I use my Quicken Basic 2007 strictly for personal use. To Big Steve, You asked how large a device capacity you would need. I have 3 different Quicken files each with numerous accounts in them. The total size I came up with is around 60 MB. Do the math; my files in the largest file go back to 1992. If you know how to use Windows Explorer, go to your Quicken Data file folder and right click it. Scoll down to properties and click it. You will be presented with a number of items one of which is the size of the folder. A 1 Gig flash drive is now a few dollars to buy. I use 2 flash drives and an external HD to back up to. It may sound like a bit much but as I wrote, 17 years of data would be hard to replace. I probably wouldn't have to replace all that, but it's there, so I use several backup vehicles. The game offers three gameplay modes: Sandbox, in which you are free to build anything you can think of; Science Mode, which lets you perform Scientific experiments to advance the knowledge of Kerbalkind and further the available technology; and Career Mode, in which you must manage every aspect of your Space Program, including administration. Some people, like me, run desktop machines, and run them 24/7, typically. I actually find it inconvenient to have to restart my machine and select another OS, and reboot, and all the while, NOT have access to my normal desktop and files at any moment's notice. My 'Mac' is a quad core i7 running 3.9/4.2 GHz (OC/TB) with 32 GB RAM, and a GTX 980ti. I keep my CPU at 100% workload at all times, running video encoding frequently, and folding @ home when not video encoding. Overclocked, and always at 100%, temps never go over 65°C on air. My case airflow is such, that I've NEVER seen my GPU fans ever bother kicking in. |
